the reading ROOM

Stories we carry though spaces as we move through the world

As we navigate the world, we are more than travelers; we are collectors of the stories that inhabit our spaces.

Operating on a book-club premise, the reading ROOM will gather to explore the intersections of art, design, heritage, our built and natural world through a single, curated theme. This is a space for slow attention and a place to cultivate a personal creative life through shared inquiry. With diverse voices, we can cultivate how the environments we build and the heritage we inherit shape the stories we carry and the world we inhabit.

A virtual triannual ROOM

Past ROOM Sessions 2026:

Anni Albers: The inaugural session of the reading ROOM centered on Anni Albers's 1944 essay "One Aspect of Art Work," with two guests from the Josef & Anni Albers Foundation. Discussion drew on her thinking about weaving, abstraction, and the relationship between making and meaning.
